I’ve just taken delivery of a new Lowrance Link-2 DSC radio to replace my ageing ICOM M33. It’s currently charging and I’ll be having a good play with it over the next few days. The biggest difference when compared to the ICOM is the addition of a GPS receiver and DSC, yet its weight is exactly the same. I’ll be posting a detailed initial review very soon!

How did you get on with this radio? I can't find your detailed review. Looking into getting one and this seems (on the face of it at least!) good value. Interested to hear what you think.

It's working out as a very good piece of kit and you've reminded me that I must post a long term review very soon!. On the first models there was corrosion issues on the battery terminals due to one remaining live. However, this was quickly addressed with a software update by Lowrance and it is no longer an issue.
Radio performance is good and the GPS function very workable, though I see it more as a backup to my main Lowrance Elite 7 HDI combo unit.
Having the DSC functionality can only be a good thing, registering and setting up is quick and easy.
I'd certainly recommend the product.

Seems for occasional use the Lowrance is probably better value than ICOM DSC models at around £100 cheaper.
Quite possibly. If you're not requiring to have very basic map layout and simplied GPS navigation capability on a handheld radio, preferring just having the DSC for emergency use, it'd nake sense.
