Good stuff Rob - when are you getting your own TV show?!

Now that would be a job worth getting up for!

Do you ever do any other types of fishing from the Kayak such as lure fishing on the drift or trolling or do you always prefer fishing bait at anchor?
If not seen already, you may be interested in Yakabout on You Tube. There are about 50 videos. It’s in Australia but the methods work just as well in the UK with a variety of our species.

I generally bait fish at anchor, mainly due to the strong tidal areas that I tend to fish. That said, given the opportunity I do drift and lure fish. As for trolling, it's not really something I've given a proper go.

I've followed Yakabout for a long time, he's on my Blogroll on this site. There's certainly some great fishing to be had over there!

I understand. I fish in the clear waters of Cornwall and the tides are not really a problem (with drift shute) therefore, you can drift over a reef with lures then troll when paddling back to set up the next drift. Works well for Bass, Pollack, Cod, Wrasse, and Sea Trout. Speaking of Cod, still catching them down here jigging on the reefs. There the kelpies or Red Cod which take up residence on the rough kelpie ground throughout the summer.

I used to live in the North East of England and there we also a lot of resident cod in the kelp beds, lovely colouring as you say.

Most of the marks I fish are quite featureless, that said I intend to fish a couple of reefs on my next trip. I have a plan to drift 5-6 hours over rough ground, returning with the tide (could be a bum numbing trip!). I may even stretch it to an overnight trip. That'll all be drift fishing with Shads, worms, baited muppets, sandeel, etc. I'm looking forward to it!!. I used to live it Cornwall for about 5 years, though I didn't know about kayak fishing back then, great pity.

Hi Rob,

Love your YouTube vids but can I ask a favour, can you set your YouTube account to let mobile devices view them as I often follow you via my Android Tablet.

Thank,

Neil

Hi Neil, according to You Tube it prevents it being viewed on Mobile and TV devices as I used copyrighted music for my soundtracks.

Ah OK, thanks for looking in to it. I will know for future viewing, thanks for all the posts I enjoy your site.

All I need now is some good weather and a fixed wrist and I can go out and try to brake my duck, first two trips out ever and no fish yet lol.
